This timely candle continues the investigation into the world of invasive species, making use of the fragrance extracted from Lonicera japonica, Japanese Honeysuckle. Functioning as both a sculpture or candle, this decorative work of art will catch the attention of anyone interested in botany or popular culture. Each candle is numbered and signed.

Introduced on Long Island in 1806 for its fragrance and beauty, this plant has since spread over much of the south and eastern regions of North America. [1] Crowding out native plants, Japanese Honeysuckle grows both as ground cover or a vine and is best removed manually with the assistance of glycophosphate herbicides.

This artwork is part of the collection of the Bronx Museum of Arts.
